Nelly the Ellybot was a featherweight robot built by Team Pun-Chant which competed in the 2018 King of Bots UK International Championships. In the main championship, it reached the Top 20 after winning one qualification round by knockout, and finishing second in its others to Furious George and Amnesia respectively. However, before its knockout battle against Saber-X, Nelly the Ellybot withdrew from the championship due to electrical issues, and was replaced by Blunt Force Trauma Remix.
Following additional repairs, Nelly the Ellybot also competed in two whiteboard battles, losing its first to Meow and winning its second against Straddle 2, despite sustaining heavy damage from the latter's bar spinner. Team Pun-Chant also expressed interest in competing in the Gladiator battle, but chose not to enter due to the damage inflicted to Nelly the Ellybot throughout the competition.
The robot's name and design are both derived from the Toy Dolls song, Nellie the Elephant.
King of Bots UK 2018EditNelly The Ellybot's first match was supposed to be against Enigma, and Furious George, however for reasons unknown Enigma pulled out, leaving Furious George to fight alone.
The match started poorly for Nelly The Ellybot as it was suffering drive issues, and only able to move in a circle. This allowed Furious George to spin up to full speed, and slam into Nelly The Ellybot. However the spinner then stopped working, leaving Furious George weaponless.
Nelly The Ellybot's remaining drive promptly failed. This allowed Furious George to shove Nelly The Ellybot into the open pit meaning it had lost its first fight by knockout.
Nelly then went on to battle Amnesia and X-303. It suffered from multiple brown-outs during the battle, but was able to land some hits on both opponents, some of which made contact with the drive belts of X-303, immobilizing it. The final brown out caused Nelly The Ellybot to be counted out and be eliminated by knockout. The source of the brownouts was found to be a combination of radio and an electrical issue.
Nelly The Ellybot then fought Telekinesis and Elevate. In the opening moments, Elevate and Telekinesis spun up and cautiously approached each other. A ram by Nelly The Ellybot caused weapon-to-weapon contact between the two spinners, leaving Elevate immobilized completely, and Telekinesis to be immobilized on one side.
Telekinesis was able to "Crab-walk" around the arena, and subsequently the two remaining bots made contact, with Telekinesis tearing off Nelly The Ellybot's Titanium armor, and putting large gashes in the HDPE wedge - It also immobilized Nelly on one side. However, the strain on Telekinesis' drive caused it to start smoking and stop moving, leading it to be counted out, giving Nelly The Ellybot the win by knockout.

Outside King of BotsEdit
A heavyweight version of Nelly the Ellybot was originally selected to compete in Series 9 of Robot Wars, but withdrew after the robot could not be completed before filming of the series began. This version was also submitted for an entry into Series 10, but was not selected.
Team captain Sarah Maylan also co-produced the online webseries Bugglebots, dedicated to beetleweight class robots, and took on the role of pit reporter for this series.
