- "I'm a native Tujia boy. The white tiger symbolises courage in the culture of the Tujia people. In the past, Tujia people would carve white tigers on their weapons for blessing and protection. I also want one of those weapons. My robot is my most powerful weapon. I've come to King of Bots to show everyone the unyielding spirit of our Tujia people."
- — Wang Xianze explains the inspiration behind Great Wilderness War Tiger's design and name (Mech+ subtitles)
洪荒战虎 (romanized as hónghuāng zhàn hŭ, translating to Great Wilderness War Tiger) was a heavyweight robot from Hubei that competed in the first season of King of Bots. It lost its only battle in Season 1 to Wild Beast. Great Wilderness War Tiger was succeeded by White Tiger Guardian.
In the Mech+ translations of Season 1, Great Wilderness War Tiger was simply referred to as War Tiger in subtitles.
Design[]
As its name suggested, Great Wilderness War Tiger was a white and gold, four-wheel drive robot with a design resembling that of a mechanical tiger - complete with head. Its main weapon was a gold drum-like spinner with three toothed discs, while the robot itself also featured a rear wedge.
Robot History[]
King of Bots (Season 1)[]
In the first round, Great Wilderness War Tiger faced the multibot Wild Beast, represented by the heavyweight Iron Lion and drone Falcon. The battle started tentatively, with Wild Beast sending Falcon out to attack. Minor contact with Falcon allowed Great Wilderness War Tiger to down the drone early on, causing it to flip and crash onto the floor. Iron Lion steered around to the sides of Great Wilderness War Tiger, denting the back right corner and slightly tearing one of the back tire. Great Wilderness War Tiger turned and smashed its drum against the front of Iron Lion, but was jolted upwards a few times. Another smash broke Great Wilderness War Tiger's drum, removing the teeth and rendering it useless.
Iron Lion ripped away the sides of the drum of Great Wilderness War Tiger, alongside the head and front panels. Each of these attacks flung Great Wilderness War Tiger upwards, as Iron Lion came in and attacked the sides, managing to drive under and carry the heavily-damaged machine. More major damage was sustained as Great Wilderness War Tiger took additional hits, this time to its underside, with a drive chain on the left-hand side becoming severed. Great Wilderness War Tiger backed away slowly to the edge of the arena where, in a crucial error, it drove over one of the floor flippers. The hazard flipped Great Wilderness War Tiger over. With no way of self-righting or running inverted, it was counted out and eliminated in the first round.
